I have always admired the paintings of John William Waterhouse.  I love how they bring to life so many of the mythological women I grew up reading about.  I think it's wonderful how he managed to make these women appear so real and earthly and yet still capture their magical otherworldliness.  Just looking at these creations makes me remember how magical life can be.  This is why I own several Waterhouse prints, including "The Lady Of Shallot", "The Crystal Ball" and, of course, "A Mermaid".

{Beach Style} Colorful Beach Cottage

One of the great things about beach style is that it can really be any style as long as it is casual, comfortable and fun.  However, I think if Imagine Mermaid were to live in a beach cottage it would be bright and colorful like she is.  Can't you just imagine her in a room like this one?:



I love the white & bright walls with all the pops of color.  This look would be so easy to achieve in any home.  You could start by just adding some painted furniture to a white or neutral room.

 

Then add colorful fabrics, a bold rug and/ or a few fun throw pillows.

 

Maybe find or create a bold and bright lamp for more color and interest.




And as a final, whimsical touch, you could hang a colorful mermaid art print:
