One of the great things about beach style is that it can really be any style as long as it is casual, comfortable and fun. However, I think if Imagine Mermaid were to live in a beach cottage it would be bright and colorful like she is. Can't you just imagine her in a room like this one?:
I love the white & bright walls with all the pops of color. This look would be so easy to achieve in any home. You could start by just adding some painted furniture to a white or neutral room.
Then add colorful fabrics, a bold rug and/ or a few fun throw pillows.
Maybe find or create a bold and bright lamp for more color and interest.
And as a final, whimsical touch, you could hang a colorful mermaid art print:
